The Lemonade superstar is paying tribute to the pop icon…

Beyoncé has long shown her appreciation of Prince throughout her career and will now share a letter written to her inspiration. The Hold Up singer has written the foreword to an upcoming book on the life and career of the late music legend, titled Prince: A Private View.

The book is a collection of photographs and stories taken and written by Afshin Shahidi, who became Prince’s “cinematographer and later one of the only people allowed to photograph him” after the pair met in 1993, according to its description.

Shahidi offers an exclusive and intimate look into the mysterious icon’s private life – including those infamous 3121 private parties – while Beyoncé’s foreword will honour the artistry that inspired her from a young age.

“Truth be told, the word ‘icon’ only scratches the surface of what Prince was and what he remains to me,” is what she states in a preview reported by Entertainment Weekly.

Beyoncé joined Prince onstage to perform Crazy In Love at the end of his Purple Rain medley at the Grammy Awards in 2004, and she has covered his song The Beautiful Ones live many times, even including it on last year’s Formation World Tour set list.

This is an absolute must-have for any Prince fan, and we can’t wait to pick it up on 17 October!
