In May, Ke$ha, who had been more or less missing in action after the release of her last album Warrior in 2012, put out an Instagram post saying that aliens are real and she’s seen them.

What seemed totally random and out of context has suddenly started making a lot of sense. After four years of being MIA, Ke$ha is making a comeback with a brand new album called Rainbow. The first single from the album Praying dropped last week, and it’s already crossed 11 million views on YouTube.

The singer, in an interview on The Zach Sang Show, spoke about what inspired her to make this new album. She went mad repeating that she was completely sober when she saw those “little balls of fire” in the sky.

“I was in Joshua Tree, totally sober, let me preface—completely f—ing sober. I think people would be like, ‘She was on acid’ or something. I wasn’t. I was on nothing. I was a totally sober Sally, just a lady in the desert,” Kesha said. “I look up in the sky and there’s a bunch of spaceships,” she insisted.

“I swear to God, there were like five to seven, and I don’t know why I didn’t like try to take a picture of it—I just looked at it. I was sitting on a rock, and I was like, ‘what in the hell is that?’ I was trying to figure it out, and then they went away. And then they came back,” the singer continued.

Considering the fact that she asks some really existential questions in Praying, we don’t know whether to doubt her sanity or believe in her statement.

Set to release on 11 August, we’re looking forward to hearing more about her extra-terrestrial experience through her music.
