Kendall Jenner’s advert for Pepsi has well and truly backfired after the campaign has been accused of hijacking the Black Lives Matter movement to shift more product.

 

The ad, which is set at an unspecified yet super tame political rally, includes Kendall soothing the tension between activists and the police by dishing out soda cans.

 

Really, who knew the solution could be that simple?

 

 

As you might have guessed, the ad has come under fire for trivialising important protest movements in an attempt to “appeal” to a younger demographic.

 

One person wrote: “so many adults had to f**k up in so many unique and equally tone deaf ways to make this awful ad, it’s honestly breathtaking”, while another added: “theory: that Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad is actually a Coke ad.”

 

 

 

 

 

In a statement, Pepsi said: “This is a global ad that reflects people from different walks of life coming together in a spirit of harmony. We think that’s an important message to convey.”

With all the backlash the ad has been getting since the time it’s been uploaded, Pepsi has decided to pull down the ad.
