“It’s not really a secret, but I, for sure, have talked about that…”

Selena Gomez has been pretty open and honest with her fans about her state of mental health and how sometimes, she has to take a break from being in the public eye to get things back on track.

Asked to moderate a Q+A session at a screening of Robert Pattinson’s new movie, Good Time, Selena has been having a chat about how much she relates to the way filmmakers Josh Safdie and Sebastian Bear-McClard portray mental health, also revealing that she was on bed rest at one point.

“A lot of you probably don’t know why I’m here. I actually don’t know why I’m here either, but these guys are really cool,” ET report Selena  said.

“A little while ago I was actually on bed rest, and it’s probably the worst time to watch Heaven Knows What [Safdie and Bear-McClard’s other film] or the best time, depending on your mental state. I ended up becoming extremely fascinated with the boys and kind of forced them to become my friend a little bit.”

“For me, personally, I really liked the mental aspect of it, because I’ve done a lot of those exercises that you put in,” she explained, referencing her own treatment. “So, the beginning of the movie stuck with me because I actually… I’m very open, it’s not really a secret, but I, for sure, have talked about that, and I’ve done a lot of those exercises.”

It’s pretty awesome to hear someone so influential being honest and candid about seeking help for their mental health, because despite the fact that there is a lot of help and treatment on offer, it can still feel extremely hard to admit that you are struggling.
