TAYLOR SWIFT JUST STOPPED ‘DESPACITO’ FROM MAKING HISTORY

America has a new number one single for the first time in four months thanks to Taylor Swift. ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ has made its way to the top of the U.S. singles chart this week, ending Luis Fonsi’s 16-week run with ‘Despacito’. The Latin smash tied Mariah Carey’s 21-year record of the longest-running number one last week and was close to becoming the longest EVER, but that dream has swiftly ended.

Taylor’s controversial new single is her fifth U.S. number one single, while it became her first UK chart-topper last week. ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ is arguably the most fitting title ever for a song as it’s already broken countless records – most of which were previously held by Adele’s blockbuster single ‘Hello’ – on Spotify, Apple Music, VEVO, YouTube and even at radio.

We believed that 25 would be the biggest album of this decade but all signs are pointing to Taylor’s Reputation changing that, too. Mariah Carey will no doubt be adding Taylor Swift to her Christmas card list for protecting her record, while we’re sure Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber won’t be too upset about the news after 16 weeks at the top.

Congratulations, Taylor!
