Ed Sheeran has gone and deleted his Twitter account after receiving criticism for his performance on the season 7 premiere of Game of Thrones.

The ‘Galway Girl’ singer made a brief appearance in the episode playing a singing Lannister soldier and the whole performance left fans quite divided, with some finding his presence a bit too distracting from the realism of the fantasy series.

So while some fans were wishing the scene had been cut, it was the singers Twitter account that ultimately ended up being erased. The scene, however, will live on for all eternity.

TBH though, this isn’t the first time Ed has decided to take a break from Twitter and he reportedly admitted to The Sun recently: “I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things.”

In fact, Ed ditched social media for an entire year back in 2016 but this is the first time he has deleted his account altogether, leaving questions about whether this is farewell for good.

Some reactions were pretty damn savage so we can kind of see why the singer might want to proactively block out the haters.

DW Ed, we still love you!
