The Don’t Touch My Singer takes to Instagram to explain why…

Oh no! After years of connecting with her fans directly on the social media platform and using it to comment on everything from The Real Housewives of Atlanta to the importance of the Black Lives Matter Movement, Solange has decided to leave Twitter!

COME BACK SOLANGE! WE LOVE YOU!

The A Seat At the Table star announced last night that she was planning to delete her account. In her final tweet, the Losing You hitmaker called on all her followers to support Takiyah Thompson. She wrote: “deleting my twitter soon, but before I dip, when we gonna pull up ? and what we gotta do to get my new hero Takiyah Thompson free?”

WHAT AN ACTIVIST!

Takiyah Thompson was arrested on Sunday for knocking down a Confederate monument in Durham, North Carolina.

Thompson’s actions were part of a protest set off by the horrific events that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia this weekend. A white supremacist rally evolved into a terror attack in which 19 people were injured and Heather Heyer, a protester against the rally, was killed. Solange, like many other public figures, was inspired by Thompson’s actions and enraged by her arrest.

After deleting her Twitter account, Solange took to Intsagram to explain her decision and express her anger.

The singer wrote that she’s “been trying to practice self preservation during this time and not give racist ugly ass f*** bois who reek of citronella my energy”. She then added: “f*** white supremacist. f*** nazis. f*** your stale ass bland ass monuments.” As sad as we are to see her leave, we hope that Solange is feeling better now that she is Twitter free.

There’s no need for her to be wasting her energy on those “racist ugly ass f*** bois”!
