Arguably the largest multi-genre festival in India, the NH7 Weekender has enjoyed extraordinary success, pretty much pioneering the music festival scene in India. What started as a single city event in Pune, absolutely blew up spreading to cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Shillong. Bringing acts like Steven Wilson, Mogwai, Flying Lotus, Mark Ronson and Jose Gonzales, to name a few, is no easy feat. Especially given the fact that these are names currently relevant with the audiences and not obscure or dated acts.

Taking a much more focused direction this year, the full fledged festival editions are traveling to only two cities. Pune of course being the constant, with a three-day extravaganza coming up, while Meghalaya already hosted a successful two-day event back in October. In addition, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Puducherry all hosted single day Weekender Express editions.

Though there were initial disappointments about a lack of international acts this year, most notably Steve Vai, in the Pune lineup, those fears were soon put to rest with a later announcement confirming him for both cities. But that’s not all. Headliners now include the incredible ambient pop act Cigarettes After Sex (USA), metalcore band The Dillinger Escape Plan (USA), prog metal outfit Textures (NL), as well as Marky Ramone’s Blitzkrieg (USA), led by drummer Marky Ramone of punk pioneers The Ramones.

The roster also features some of the best homegrown acts from across the country including Indian Ocean, The Ram Sampath Experience, Pentagram, aswekeepsearching, The Raghu Dixit Project, Blackstratblues, The Ska Vengers, Alien Chutney, Bombay Bassment, and Divine among so many others. And if the past editions are anything to go by, you can expect a carnival themed atmosphere, complete with a ferris wheel. There’s also sure to be tons of fun activities like giant Jenga, food stalls serving the badass burgers, drinks served in their signature Weekender Buckets, and an exhaustive marketplace for quickly shopping.

All of this is set to take place at the Mahalakshmi Lawns in Pune, a departure from the previous venues, from 8 to 10 December. Tickets are still available on insider.in. See you there.
