Todd McFarlane, creator of Spawn, is busy at work scripting the reboot for the anti-hero saga, and this time he's doing it right. The Gate reports that McFarlane will also direct and produce the upcoming Spawn feature that’ll star an A-lister.
“I think it's a quick shoot,” briefs Todd McFarlane on the project’s nature, “it’s not going to be a giant budget with a lot of special effects; it’s going to be more of a horror movie and a thriller movie, not a superhero one.”
Casting for Spawn is not yet underway but the comic book honcho plans to rope in a big Hollywood gun. “You know what; we’ve had some big names come to the office and go ‘We want to be in it’. Once we get this (script) done, we’ll get it off the ground with some big names,” elaborates Todd MacFarlane.
Jamie Foxx showed a keen desire in essaying the creature of the night on film. He opined, “Spawn is one, yeah, and Mike Tyson; those are two roles I would just love to do. I’m aggressively pursuing them.” From portraying musician Ray Charles to the vitriolic gunslinger Django, the actor’s proven his range and might just be the right choice; unless Michael Jai White proves otherwise.
