There's a thin line between being creepy and being in love.
15 January 2018

Crazy in love? Well you look like a total lunatic smiling 24X7. But that’s cool. We don’t mind smiling faces around for a change. But when you take things up a notch and declare your undying love on every available social media platform, it makes us realise that you’re not thinking straight. Because some of those “love quotes” you’re using as captions for those cutesy selfies (or is it “usies” now?) are really disturbing if you’re looking at it objectively, like we are.

That’s right, there’s a thin line between being in love and being a psychopath, and these hopeless romantics didn’t realise that they were crossing it.

1. “Keep smiling, you never know who’s falling in love with it.”

Imagine you’re told to smile constantly. Why? Because some weirdo is incessantly staring at you, possibly with binoculars, and falling in love with you. How’s that romantic? We don’t know about you, but for us, that’s reason enough to never, ever smile again! But then again, if you’re kicked by the idea of being stalked and stared at, congratulations, your creep and you both deserve each other.

2. “I look at you and see the rest of my life in front of my eyes.”

Nothing wrong with this one? Sure, as long as both of you are on the same page. But the sucky part is, that that’s hardly ever the case. We mean, for them, you might just be their main lay, but if you’ve already imagined the names of your three children that they have absolutely no idea about, we might have a problem here.

3. “The heart wants what it wants. There’s no logic to these things.”

What’s romantic about doing whatever the f*ck your hearts wants you to do, even though the other person might not be into it? Encourage these weirdos with quotes like “everything is fair in love and war”, and you might actually start a war!

These kind of quotes are the reason why we have women coming up with horrifying #MeToo stories. It’s literally like, you felt like kissing that girl you just met, and so you did. Because consent is just not a thing anymore, is it?

4. “At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet.”

Love makes you poetic, and that’s really fine as long as you just keep it to yourself. But let’s get one thing straight, not everyone in love is cut out to be a poet. So when you try to look up rhymes on Google, because your normal brain is not used to crafting poetry, you might just want to stop there. And if your friends, who unfortunately end up being the audience to these love poems, tell you that you suck, take their advice and STFU. Before your muse gets a look at them and your chances of ever being with them get ruined forever.

5. “Love is not only something you feel, it is something you do.”

Yeah. It’s called sex.

6. “I’d cut my hands off so you could hold them forever.”

Easy there, Romeo.

7. “To the world you may be one person but to one person you may be the world.”

It’s really sweet, but this kinda love comes with a lot of baggage. These lovers are usually obsessive, overly possessive and extremely insecure. Trust us, everybody has something else to do, if not somebody else. What’s attractive is having a life of your own, doing things that you are passionate about in life and calming the f*ck down when it comes to theirs. Basically, live and let live. Because, making somebody the centre of your universe is just too much pressure on one person.
