The 2018 GRAMMY Awards are shaping up to be quite the event. It’s the 60th annual ceremony and they’re pulling out all of the stops to make sure it’s one to remember, even moving it from LA to New York for the first time in 15 years. Now it has been announced that Kendrick Lamar will open the awards show with a sure-to-be-unforgettable performance, while Sam Smith has also been added to the line-up.

Both performers have graced the GRAMMYs stage before, with Kendrick giving a show-stopping performance of The Blacker the Berry and Alright back in 2016. Sam Smith made his GRAMMYs debut in 2015 when he performed his breakthrough hit Stay With Me with the legendary Mary J. Blige. Kendrick and Sam will be joined at Madison Square Garden with previous GRAMMYs performers Lady Gaga, P!nk and Bruno Mars, while many stars will make their debut on the night.

Cardi B will join Bruno onstage to perform their unstoppable collaboration Finesse (Remix), while SZA, Kesha, Khalid Alessia Cara and Logic will take to the world-famous stage for the first time ever. Childish Gambino – who is nominated for five awards (!) – will also make his debut, alongside Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee and (surprisingly) Miley Cyrus, who will perform with Elton John.

28 January is going to be a huge night for new talent, and the stars who have gone unrecognised way too long.
